Iberia flight drama: Tarantula bite forces cockpit chaos
There were dramatic moments during a Friday flight involving an Airbus A320 from Iberia Airlines, travelling from Düsseldorf to Madrid. The aircraft's pilot was attacked onboard by a venomous spider. A tarantula bit the allergic pilot. Fortunately, he was quickly given medication, and the flight ended safely.
According to the Metro portal, the incident occurred on Friday, February 21, during an Iberia Airlines Airbus A320 flight from Düsseldorf, Germany, to Madrid. A tarantula—a venomous, hairy spider that can be unsettling due to its appearance—was found in the aircraft's cockpit.
Tarantula bit the pilot on the plane
The spider entered the plane during a stopover in Casablanca earlier last week. It got into the cockpit and bit the pilot. He needed immediate medical attention because he was allergic to the spider venom. He was given medication to reduce inflammation and manage symptoms related to the allergic reaction.
Fortunately, the aircraft reached Madrid safely. However, passengers who were supposed to fly to Vigo on the same plane for the next flight had to wait an additional three hours. This delay was necessary to disinfect the aircraft and remove any bacteria that may have entered with the spider.
Despite this, fear lingered as passengers continued looking around anxiously to see if any other such creatures appeared onboard. Fortunately, everything ended well. The pilot received treatment and is now feeling well.
