Hurricane Milton is expected to hit Florida overnight from Wednesday to Thursday. Residents from threatened areas on the southeastern coast of the United States are being evacuated.

Tornadoes are already occurring in Florida. More alerts and warnings of tornado formation are being issued in various locations. These phenomena are occurring before the anticipated strike of the largest hurricane in 100 years, according to meteorologists, Hurricane Milton. The storm will reach Florida overnight from Wednesday to Thursday.

Authorities are urging immediate evacuation. Nearly 6 million residents from the threatened areas on the southeastern coast of the United States will leave their homes.

All services have been put on high alert and are preparing for the worst-case scenarios.

Hurricane Milton will hit Florida. It is already a category five

After a temporary weakening, the hurricane has strengthened again to category 5, with winds of 265 km/h – reported the Associated Press.

A Florida meteorologist, John Morales, had tears in his eyes, and his voice trembled as he conveyed the latest updates on the dangerous and rapid intensification of Hurricane Milton in the Gulf of Mexico. "I apologize; this is just...horrific," he said at the end of a television interview.

According to the Hurricane Centre's forecasts, Milton is expected to pass through central Florida, dumping up to 460 mm of rain. The hurricane could then turn back towards the Atlantic Ocean, which would spare other states already devastated by Helene.

Let's recall that Helene caused the death of at least 230 people as it moved from Florida to the Carolinas.
