The presence of mice in the home can be a real nuisance. No wonder as soon as we spot a rodent or the effects of its residence in the pantry, we quickly seek the most effective method to make it "move out" of the house.
How can we effectively get rid of mice and ensure they avoid our home in the future? Certain humane methods can help.
How to get rid of mice?
It turns out that mice have an exceptionally sensitive sense of smell towards various odours. These small rodents particularly dislike the smell emitted by garlic. This is because garlic contains allicin and other sulphur compounds, which repel mice. If we place crushed garlic cloves in strategic places where unwelcome guests enter the house, we can be sure the problem will be solved.
Another method using garlic is to prepare a homemade repellent spray. Simply crush garlic cloves and mix them with water to make a garlic extract, then pour the mixture into a spray bottle. Next, we need to spray critical areas—the mixture should work just as well as fresh garlic.
Homemade method for mice
What if we are not fans of garlic ourselves? Don't worry; there are many other methods. Another homemade method is to use tansy. This plant contains thujone, a substance that rodents prefer to avoid.
Simply place dried tansy in sachets and distribute them around the home in places where mice appear. We can also prepare an infusion to spray, for example, the pantry or kitchen corners.
