How to cut winter laundry drying time with a simple trick

In the summer, we dry clothes on balconies and terraces. However, we have to bring our drying indoors in the winter, making the process take longer than it does during the summer months. Fortunately, there's a simple trick that can significantly reduce drying time.

The washing machine makes daily chores easier by refreshing clothes, tablecloths, curtains, and bedding in just a few moments. To do this, load the laundry into the drum, select the appropriate program, and press the "start" button. Despite these conveniences, many people are unaware of all the machine's functions and how to improve the washing and drying processes. Exploring the machine's capabilities to save time and money is worthwhile.

Drying laundry in winter can be burdensome

If we don't have a washer-dryer or a tumble dryer, we usually hang clothes on a standalone dryer, which can take up a lot of space in the room. However, that's not the only issue—moisture from wet clothes can settle on the ceiling, walls, and windows, creating unsightly stains and breeding grounds for mold and mildew. Using radiators for drying is not ideal either. When clothes are on the radiator, it doesn't work efficiently, and the air quality in the apartment worsens.

Drying clothes on a traditional dryer can take up to several hours, with exact times depending on the type of fabric and thickness. For example, thin cotton t-shirts will dry faster than thick sweaters, jeans, or hoodies. Consequently, many people extend the process over several days to ensure everything is dry before ironing and storing in the closet.

Method for quick drying of laundry

Not many people know that a regular washing machine (without a drying option) can leave clothes nearly dry. How is this possible?

Most washing machine models offer a quick spin function, which removes excess water from fabrics. To boost effectiveness, place a dry towel in the drum with wet laundry and set the spin cycle to high speed. The towel will absorb excess water from the clothes, leaving them almost dry by the end of the cycle.

Then simply hang the clothes on a dryer to complete the drying process. Drying will take significantly less time than before. This method also reduces excess moisture in the room.

If you dry clothes in a small apartment, remember to ventilate the room where the wet clothes are drying regularly. Additionally, pay attention to how you arrange items on the rods. Even distribution prevents water from accumulating in one place, aiding in faster moisture evaporation from the fabric.
