The vacation season has just begun. Many people, especially students and couples without children, go on vacation as early as June, when prices are significantly lower. A similar situation occurs in May and September, before and after the summer season. If you are planning a vacation soon that involves staying at a hotel, the following tips will be handy.
Why should you put suitcases in the shower?
One of the problems that can be encountered in some hotels, especially the cheaper ones, is bedbugs. These small creatures like to nest in dark corners, most commonly in the edges of beds, on mattresses, or the folds of sofas and chairs. They look like scattered poppy seeds, so they can be easily overlooked. Therefore, immediately upon entering the hotel room, it’s worth checking to see if bedbugs have made their home there.
However, it's worth placing all suitcases in the shower or bathtub first. Bedbugs can quickly get into suitcases and spread to clothes, causing many people to unknowingly bring these unpleasant parasites into their homes.
What to watch out for in hotel rooms
Another rule worth following is removing the bedspread from the bed and placing it elsewhere. Bedspreads are often full of bacteria. Why? Although bed linen is regularly washed and changed after each guest, bedspreads are washed less frequently, sometimes once every six months.
The same applies to the carpet. It is vacuumed regularly but washed very rarely. It's best to avoid walking on it barefoot. Also, the TV remote can be a real breeding ground for bacteria. It's worth disinfecting it, as housekeepers often forget about this item during cleaning.
