In today's world, where we are constantly bombarded with information about complex recipes for healthy drinks, it is worth appreciating simplicity and traditional methods. Honey water is a drink with extraordinary qualities, which is easy to prepare and can bring many benefits to our bodies. It can influence the improvement of sleep quality and overall vitality. Let’s take a closer look at why drinking a glass of honey before bed is worth drinking a glass of honey water and what benefits this traditional drink brings.
Honey water - drink it before bed
Honey is a true treasure trove of health-promoting properties. It is a beneficial collection of vitamins and minerals for the body. This product—of course, when properly obtained and stored—contains B vitamins and vitamin C, as well as minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, sodium, and potassium. Moreover, honey is a source of antioxidants, which help combat free radicals in the body, protecting us from their harmful effects.
Honey water is also a fantastic way to utilize the main ingredient's properties to improve sleep quality, as mentioned earlier. Who wouldn't want to benefit from such a remedy? If you do, too, know that preparing this drink is simple and quick. Just dissolve a teaspoon of honey in a glass of warm water (its temperature should not exceed 40°C). The recommended amount of honey water is about 150 ml drunk before bed. You can also drink it during the day, but it will not have such a strong calming effect.
You can add other ingredients to honey water to enhance its flavour. Lemon juice works perfectly in this case. You can also experiment by adding fresh herbs such as mint or lemon balm, which will enrich the drink's taste and strengthen its calming properties.
Why else is it worth consuming honey before bed?
Honey, aside from its relaxing properties, also participates in producing tryptophan—an amino acid that is a precursor to serotonin (the happiness hormone) and melatonin (the hormone regulating physiological sleep). Additionally, honey inhibits orexin activity, which is responsible for alertness, and helps regulate nighttime stomach function, promoting a peaceful and deep sleep.
Of course, honey is not the only product that facilitates falling asleep. It is also worth knowing about the properties of, among others... kiwi. This seemingly inconspicuous fruit is extremely important in this context. By clicking here, you can read more about this.
