The actor was active in the cartoon world for many years, playing various characters, including He-Man in the series "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" and She-Ra: Princess of Power, which aired from 1983 to 1986. "Mirror notes that both productions enjoyed great popularity in the United States and the United Kingdom despite modest budgets.

Erwin also appeared in numerous commercials, and his voice was instantly recognizable to anyone who watched 9Lives cat food commercials, where he starred as Morris the Cat. This role made him one of the most recognizable voices in the USA.

The actor's prosperous career spanned over 45 years. His most recent acclaimed role was in an episode of Family Guy, in which he reprised his role as He-Man in a scene with Brian Griffin.

Erwin’s career began in 1968 when he voiced one of his first roles—grumpy Reggie Mantle in the series "The Archies." His vocal talent caught the attention of commercial producers, leading to the role of Morris, who became the symbol of the 9Lives brand.

Remembering working with John Erwin

Alan Oppenheimer, who voiced Skeletor in "He-Man," fondly remembers John Erwin.

Working with John Erwin was a ballad of irreverence, professionalism and surprise. He was a series actor, writer, performer of commercials, musician, painter and an all-around lovely gentleman, an indelible addition to my life, said Oppenheimer, quoted by "Mirror".

Erwin passed away on December 20, 2024, but the sad news was only confirmed by his agent on Friday, January 31. He is survived by a loving family—children and grandchildren.
