Harris leads Trump in surprising Iowa poll, Trump cries foul
A sensational poll reveals Kamala Harris defeating Donald Trump in Iowa. Trump won easily there in 2016 and 2020, and when the new poll surfaced, he quickly labeled it "fake." Ann Selzer, who conducted the poll, now responds to the Republican candidate.

In the poll by Ann Selzer and the "Des Moines Register," 47% of respondents from Iowa indicated their willingness to vote for Kamala Harris, while 44% supported Trump. This is a surprising outcome because, in past elections in this state, Trump triumphed easily.
When the new poll was published, Trump quickly reacted. He called the poll's author a "hater" and an "enemy" and added that the poll is "fake."
US elections. "No one would have thought"
During an appearance on MSNBC's Morning Joe, Ann Selzer admitted that the poll results even surprised her.
No one, including myself, would have thought that Iowa could choose Kamala Harris – she said.
Selzer responded to the criticism and assured that her survey is credible. She described her data collection method as "forward polling." She explained, "I credit my method for its achievements so far. I call it 'forward polling.' I want to be in a place where my data can show me what is likely to happen with the future electorate."
She also addressed the differences between her surveys and others, including the Emerson poll, which at the same time showed a 10-point lead for Trump over Harris.
Many other polls consider the results of exit polls and voter turnout from previous elections. I do not make any such assumptions – said Selzer.
Selzer emphasized that she uses the same research method that accurately predicted Trump's victories in previous elections.
