The tense relations between Palestine and Israel have persisted for years. The escalation in ties occurred at the end of October 2023 during the Supernova festival, when Hamas attacked people attending the mass event. Israel responded with full force, leading to a significant escalation of the conflict. Currently, every 10 minutes in the Gaza Strip, one child dies—some from bombing attacks, others due to hunger. Israel blocks humanitarian aid transports, causing food to rot at the borders of the Gaza Strip.
Gigi and Bella Hadid aid Palestine
Models Gigi and Bella Hadid are known worldwide. The stars' father, Mohamed Anwar Hadid, is a real estate magnate and Palestinian, and they have supported Palestine from the beginning. Known from the covers of major fashion magazines and the runways of the most famous designers, the sisters joined forces to assist Palestinians.
Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid donated one million Canadian dollars (about CAD 1 million) to four humanitarian organizations focused on helping children and families affected by the war in the Gaza Strip. The famous sisters chose the organizations Heal Palestine, Palestine Children's Relief Fund, World Central Kitchen, and United Nations Relief and Works Agency. Each one will receive CAD 250,000.
Bella Hadid defends Palestine
Bella Hadid wrote on Instagram: "A Palestinian girl on the cover of Vogue. The joy it brings me to say that….I won’t stop talking about the systematic oppression, pain and humility that Palestinians face on a regular basis. With only love in my heart and an open mind to educate myself and learn more every day… No matter what. I Love You."
Bella's younger sister, Gigi Hadid, has publicly supported Palestine multiple times. She simultaneously expressed sympathy for everyone affected by the war in the Gaza Strip.
