Gust of wind topples Christmas tree in Brazil, claims one life
One person is dead, and two are injured following an incident that occurred in the city of Marica, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, eastern Brazil. A Christmas decoration imitating a Christmas tree, set up on the shore of the Aracatiba lagoon, toppled over.
On Monday, in Marica, a tragic accident occurred. During the installation of a Christmas decoration resembling a Christmas tree, a strong gust of wind overturned the structure, killing one of the workers from the company installing the decoration.
Two other men involved in the installation were injured and transported to the hospital. Their lives are not in danger.
According to the police investigation, the direct cause of the tragedy was a strong gust of wind that came during the assembly of the tree structure, which was 56 metres tall. The decoration was to be unveiled during a festive Christmas concert on Tuesday evening, scheduled at 7:00 p.m. ET.
