George Galloway claims Baby Reindeer inspiration stalked him in '80s

"Baby Reindeer" remains a hot topic on news portals and newspapers, mainly because people who inspired the series are speaking up. Now, British politician George Galloway has accused Fiona Harvey, who is believed to be the model for the character Martha, of stalking.

A few weeks ago, we learned that Netflix was sued by a woman claiming to be the model for the character Martha in the hit "Baby Reindeer," Fiona Harvey. She is demanding approximately 230 million Canadian dollars in compensation for emotional distress, abuse, and defamation allegedly committed by the platform.

Another victim of the "real Martha from Baby Reindeer"?

Now another person has accused Harvey of stalking—this time, it's the British politician George Galloway. He recently appeared on a show hosted by famous journalist Piers Morgan, where he stated that the woman had stalked him in the '80s.

His appearance on Morgan's show inspired him to tell his story:

"Piers Morgan at his best. It took me right back to the 1980s, when stalking was up close and personal. There was no emails or texting. You had to either phone someone on their landline or turn up at their door. That’s real stalking. That’s what she did to me," Galloway recalled.

He added that, in his opinion, Fiona has a problem with an "obsession" and harassed him "forever." However, unlike Netflix's show, the politician claims that Harvey harassed him because of his work—Galloway was already an active politician and activist at that time.

This wasn't the main topic of their conversation—the lion's share of the interview was dedicated to the situation between Palestine and Israel and the war in Ukraine. You can find the segment about Fiona Harvey starting five minutes before the end:

Harvey responded to Galloway's allegations

The matter was quickly commented on by Fiona Harvey's lawyers, who said in a statement to TMZ:

"The statements of George Galloway, a former member of parliament with his own agenda, which vaguely and generally claim that Ms Harvey stalked him ‘hundreds of times’ forty years ago, has nothing whatsoever to do with what Netflix did to Ms Harvey in 2024."
