One person dead, seven injured

According to Rostechnadzor (Federal Service for Environmental, Technological, and Nuclear Supervision), one person died as a result of the accident, and another seven—two company employees and five contractor employees—were injured.

"At this moment, the fire at the East-Urengoy installation has been contained. There is no threat to the population or the environment, and air pollution monitoring is being conducted on-site," adds Rostechnadzor.

Rosneft’s largest project

"Rospan" is one of Rosneft's leading and largest gas projects. It combines several fields with approximately 975 billion cubic metres of gas, over 150 million cubic metres of gas condensate, and over 40 million tonnes of crude oil.

Rosneft’s subsidiary is also one of Russia's largest producers of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Most of the LPG shipments from Rospan are carried out by rail. Last year, the company’s railway LPG transports amounted to nearly 977,000 tonnes, 425,000 more than in 2022.
