Evangeline Lilly won the hearts of viewers after her performances in the series "Lost" and movies from the "Hobbit" and "Ant-Man" series. The actress has stated that she has had enough life in Hollywood and is deciding to retire—at least a temporary retirement.

Evangeline Lilly wrote an official statement on Instagram saying she is ready to stop working as an actress, at least for a while. This information is surprising because Lilly will celebrate her 45th birthday this year.

The star explained that sometimes, walking away from something that seems like an easy choice can bring fear and uncertainty. Still, by believing in Hindu dharma, this fear eventually turns into fulfillment.

- Stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can feel scary at times, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfilment. I might return to Hollywood one day, but for now, this is where I belong. A new season has arrived, and I AM READY...and I AM HAPPY - wrote Lilly.

Lilly decided to add a video that was recorded on the set of "Lost" around 2006. In it, the actress answered the question of where she sees herself in 10 years.

Talking about where she’d like to see herself in 10 years, a smiling Lilly said she’d "like to be a retired actress" and "have a family," as well as be a writer, while at the same time focusing on "influencing people’s lives in a humanitarian way."

In this video, we also see a segment with the poet Maya Angelou, who discusses death by saying that since you know this great unknown is coming, maybe it's time to do other great things. This sentence seems to capture what Lilly now feels perfectly.

Throughout her several-decade-long career, Lilly not only participated in the aforementioned "Lost," which was one of the most popular television productions of the early 21st century, but also in major box-office hits.

She has starred in the critically acclaimed "The Hurt Locker," "Real Steel" with Hugh Jackman, in two installments of the "Hobbit" movies, as well as in several MCU films, including the "Ant-Man" trilogy and the production "Avengers: Endgame."
