On Monday, Borrell reaffirmed his hope that EU member states would permit Ukraine to utilize the weapons supplied by the EU for strikes on targets within Russian territory.

"I’ve been saying once and again that Ukraine should be able to use the arms we provided to them, in order to not only stop the arrows but also to be able to hit the archers. (...) I continue believing this is what has to be done. I’m sure we will discuss once again. I hope member states will agree on that," Borrell remarked before a meeting with EU foreign ministers in Brussels.

Borrell highlighted that this issue will be revisited during the EU foreign ministers' meeting in Brussels. His statement underscores the growing tensions in the region and the need for decisive action in response to Russian aggression.

Borrell's comments are significant in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, where military support from the European Union is crucial.

The decision to permit Ukraine to target locations in Russia could significantly influence the dynamics of the conflict and Ukraine's defensive strategy.

The EU foreign ministers meeting in Brussels aims to discuss further actions regarding support for Ukraine and potential sanctions against Russia.

Borrell expressed optimism that EU member states will reach a collective decision enabling Ukraine to defend itself more effectively against Russian aggression.
