In Germany, a kangaroo named Skippy, who escaped six months ago, has finally been caught. It turned out that it was only 80 kilometres from its owner's home. Skippy escaped from its enclosure on December 31st.
The owner, who keeps several kangaroos in an enclosure, could not catch it. The police, who made multiple attempts, also failed to catch it.
Earlier, the owner informed that Skippy is not dangerous, likes contact with people, and enjoys receiving treats from them. This made it possible to try luring it into a garage or the enclosure area. However, despite these attempts, the methods did not work.
The kangaroo was found after six months
The owner of the kangaroo is Jens Kohlhaus from Sternberger Burg near Sternberg. The German portal NDR reports that Kohlhaus had repeatedly tried to recover his animal, but to no avail. Skippy was last seen between the towns of Sülten and Sagsdorf at the end of March.
Last week, a resident of the Lüdersdorf municipality managed to catch the kangaroo, though the details of how he managed to do it have not been disclosed. The man locked Skippy in his stable and informed the owner about the animal's recovery.
The animal escaped from an enclosure in Sternberg on New Year's Eve. Due to its jumping abilities, reaching up to 3 metres, it was difficult to catch. It is still unclear where the kangaroo had been for over six months.
