  • Elon Musk's SpaceX launched the largest and most advanced Polish satellite, EagleEye, into orbit on Friday, according to Creotech Instruments, Poland's largest manufacturer of satellites, satellite systems, and components.
  • A fire that broke out Friday evening near the Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon destroyed a multi-level parking garage and warehouse. More than 200 cars burned.
  • The Democratic candidate for President of the USA presented her economic plan on Friday during a rally in Raleigh, North Carolina. Among her proposed measures are a ban on price gouging of food and a CAD 8,000 tax credit for parents of newborns.
  • The Gaza Strip's Ministry of Health confirmed the first case of polio in the area in 25 years on Friday. The infection was detected in a 10-month-old, unvaccinated child. The UN and the World Health Organization (WHO) called for a humanitarian ceasefire on Friday to vaccinate children.
  • 12 inmates were killed on Friday in the Haitian city of Saint-Marc during a prison escape, according to local authorities. This is the third such event in the country in recent months.
  • The United States is experiencing a significant surge in the COVID-19 virus. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is the highest since July 2022.
