It's hard to imagine a home without a washing machine, as we deal with a "mountain" of laundry every day. Though it might seem that this appliance uses a lot of electricity and water, it can be quite the opposite if we know which program is best to use.

Washing machine program that lowers bills

One of the most effective ways to lower bills is to use the ECO mode. According to manufacturers, it uses significantly less water and energy compared to standard settings.

The most important factor here is the washing time. Although the ECO program usually lasts up to 4 hours, it doesn't mean it costs us more money. A longer cycle at a lower temperature allows for effective stain removal with minimal resource use.

This is also reflected in numbers, which washing machine manufacturers are eager to boast about. Some claim that by using the ECO program, we use about 38% less water and about 33% less energy compared to the popular cotton program.

Washing at lower temperatures

Using the ECO program also brings other benefits. It's worth remembering that clothes washed at high temperatures wear out much faster and may shrink or fade. This is exactly why it's extremely important to read the label, which contains detailed information about the best washing cycle for each garment.

This does not mean, however, that by following the manufacturer's recommendations, clothes will stay in perfect condition after many washes. That is exactly why it’s a good idea to set the washing machine to low temperatures, which are less damaging to fabrics.
