Drones ignite tension: Fires at Russian oil bases escalate
In the Voronezh region, a fuel depot in the village of Anna was attacked by Ukrainian drones. Although the electronic warfare system (EW) effectively neutralized most of the drones, at least one struck the oil base, as confirmed by the governor of the region, Alexander Gusev.
On the night of October 2, there were fires at two oil bases in different regions of Russia, reports "Kommersant".
In at least one case, it was confirmed that the fire resulted from a drone attack.
A Ukrainian drone hit the fuel depot in the village of Anna. Alexander Gusev, the governor of the Voronezh region, reported that an empty tank caught fire, according to the "Moscow Times".
According to preliminary data, there were no injuries, and fire brigades responded on-site immediately. Gusev later added that the fire was extinguished shortly after firefighters arrived.
Massive fire in Osentsy
At the same time, a fire broke out at an oil base in the Perm region. In the industrial zone of the village of Osentsy, a fire occurred at a private base used for storing oil products, covering an area of approximately 9,940 square metres. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the flames spread to the fuel tanks.
Firefighters explained that they managed to prevent the fire from spreading to private residential buildings, administrative buildings, and dry vegetation. As noted by Kommersant, more than 60 people, using 19 units of equipment, participated in the firefighting operation.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations lists careless handling of fire and equipment failure as the official causes of the fire. The village of Osentsy is located south of Perm, in close proximity to the Bolshoye Savino Airport.
