Sources from BFMTV assessed that the device was likely made using an old method involving connecting to a phone and activating it via a phone signal.
Meanwhile, Reuters, citing its sources within French services, reported that the anti-terrorist prosecutor's office has taken over the case and initiated an investigation related to suspicion of involvement in a terrorist plot.
The agency reports that the French intelligence agency is also expected to be involved in the investigation. According to BFMTV's findings, the man attempted to produce the explosive device by himself.
Because the Olympic Games are approaching in Paris, the country's authorities raised the terrorist threat level to the highest level in March of this year.
