Restaurant building collapsed. 4 dead

The terrace of the Medusa building in Playa de Palma collapsed on Thursday evening. About 100 rescue workers fought through the night, trying to save people trapped under the building's remains. As a result of the building collapse, four people were killed.

Witnesses say that many customers, including foreign tourists, were on the restaurant's terrace at the time of the incident.

"The first floor terrace has collapsed, probably due to excess weight although it’s still under investigation, and it’s impacted on an arch below which has also come down and affected the basement where there was a table football table and there were people eating," The Sun reported. One resident said the sound of the collapse was like a bomb. People who survived were comforting each other on the street. Psychologists were also called to the scene.

Emergency services are still on-site. The search continues in the basement of the restaurant, which also collapsed.
