Passengers on a flight from Detroit to Amsterdam were poisoned after eating a meal on the plane. As many as 24 people were taken to the hospital. Due to the incident, the Delta flight had to make an emergency landing.

The incident took place on July 4th, which is a long weekend in the United States, as Independence Day is celebrated on this day.

The Delta flight from Detroit to Amsterdam had to make an emergency landing. Some passengers had consumed spoiled food on the ill-fated flight.

Poisoning on board the plane. An emergency landing was necessary

Air traffic controllers initially informed airport authorities that 70 out of 227 passengers on board were poisoned. It turned out that, in the end, 14 passengers and 10 crew members needed medical assistance.

All these individuals were transported to the hospital. However, it's not known exactly how many people consumed the meal that caused the adverse reaction. What is certain is that the emergency landing ruined the long weekend plans of many people.

This is not the service Delta is known for, and we sincerely apologise to our customers for the inconvenience and travel delays, said a Delta Airlines spokesperson in a statement. He also announced an internal investigation into the spoiled food.

July 4th is one of the busiest days at U.S. airports. Delta informed that it offered its customers a hotel and tickets for Wednesday evening. However, one of the passengers interviewed by the "New York Post" complained that her flight to Amsterdam was rescheduled for Thursday.
