An American Instagrammer showed how her daughter pressured her into buying high heels. Liana admitted that the seven-year-old begged her for the purchase, and although she was initially against it, stating that her daughter should "wait a few more years," she eventually gave in to her requests.

Those years broke my heart, but I just wasn't ready for my baby girl to grow up. Even her brother was trying to convince me to let her get them, so I cracked - and let me tell you, she shined in those heels — the girl's mother announced.

The woman proudly showed how her delighted daughter walked in the new high heels. She captioned the entire post with: "'Had to document such a special moment." The photos and videos quickly grabbed the attention of netizens, eliciting mixed reactions.

Bought her daughter high heels. The internet exploded

When the woman posted the video, she faced a wave of criticism. Most netizens felt she shouldn't have taken her daughter to the store; that way, she would have avoided the tears. "Seeing her cry for them could’ve easily been avoided. You took her to a store, to a shoe section, picked out her size, and watched her put them on her feet" — one netizen remarked.

"Wait till she is an adult and she cries for something to someone who doesn't care...no, means no. That's it" — wrote one of the commenters.

Can children wear heels?

Wearing high heels can hinder proper foot development in children, which may lead to deformities or even posture defects in the future. Many netizens share this opinion. "It's harmful to her posture," "Her feet are still developing. Such shoes are harmful," we read in the comments.

Some, however, defended the mother of the seven-year-old girl. "The heels aren't high. I'm sure she would know if she felt pain wearing them. Instead, worry about your own children," — wrote one netizen.

It's also worth noting that wearing heels at such a young age affects physical development and how others perceive the child.
