Arom Arunroj, a resident of the Bangkok suburbs (the capital of Thailand), experienced dramatic moments when a huge python attacked her while she was washing dishes at her home. According to information provided by AP, the snake held the woman in its grip for two hours. A neighbour rescued her from the ordeal.

Horror in Thailand. A 44-pound python entered one of the houses in the Bangkok suburbs. The victim of the 16-foot-long snake was reportedly a 64-year-old woman, Arom Arunroj.

I was about to scoop some water and when I sat down it bit me immediately. When I looked I saw the snake wrapping around me - Arunroj recounted for the local newspaper "Thairath".

Thailand. Python attacked a woman. A neighbour rescued her

The woman tried to free herself by grabbing the reptile by its head, but it wouldn't let go. Although pythons are not venomous, they pose a considerable threat due to their strength. They kill their prey by wrapping around the body and squeezing so tightly that the victim suffocates. Anyone who has watched nature documentaries has indeed seen snakes attacking cattle, for example, in this way.

Now, the python decided to target the 64-year-old Thai woman. Despite the dramatic situation, Arunroj sustained only minor injuries. She was in the python's grip for two hours until her screams were finally heard by a passing neighbour, who immediately called for help. According to AP, officers saw an exhausted and pale woman wrapped by the snake when they arrived at the scene. The police had to hit the reptile's head with a crowbar to get it to release its grip and flee, but they could not capture it.

Snakes attack in Thailand. Shocking statistics

According to government statistics, in 2023, 26 people in Thailand died from venomous snake bites, and about 12,000 were treated for this reason. Python attacks on humans are very sporadic. These reptiles mainly feed on small mammals but also pigs, deer, dogs, and domestic cats. Their length ranges from 5 to 21 feet, and their weight can reach up to 287 pounds.
