Cruise turmoil: Passenger dies after violent disturbance
During a Royal Caribbean cruise travelling from Los Angeles to Mexico, a very unusual situation occurred. A video surfaced online showing one of the passengers causing a serious disturbance. The man was subdued and detained. Shortly afterwards, he passed away.
The victim is 35-year-old Michael Virgil. According to TMZ, dramatic events took place on the ship heading towards Ensenada. A recording posted online shows Virgil yelling and repeatedly kicking the door to one of the cabins, attempting to break in.
Reports indicate that during the altercation, Virgil attacked several crew members and threatened other passengers with death. The ship's security used pepper spray, zip ties, and handcuffs to restrain him. The family claims he was also administered a sedative.
Virgil died about an hour after this incident, while under the supervision of the ship's security. The cause of his death has not yet been disclosed. It's worth noting that the entire incident took place less than an hour after the ship departed from Los Angeles, and the motives for the deceased passenger's behaviour remain unclear.
Virgil's family, in an interview with Fox 11, emphasized that such behaviour was uncharacteristic for him and that he did not deserve to die as a result of this situation. Michael was travelling with his fiancée and 7-year-old son.
Royal Caribbean issued a statement expressing sadness over Virgil's death and assured their support for his family and cooperation with authorities.
