Cristiano Ronaldo: The greatest player in his own words
Cristiano Ronaldo gave an interview to Edu Aguirre from "El Chiringuito," during which many topics concerning soccer were discussed. The Portuguese soccer star pointed out, among other things, who he believes is the greatest soccer player in history. Without any hesitation, he named himself, providing reasons for his choice.
Cristiano Ronaldo has never been known for modesty, as evidenced by the latest interview. Edu Aguirre, journalist for "El Chiringuito" and a personal friend of the football legend, encouraged him to give a candid interview, where he asked a question that intrigues people worldwide: "Who is the greatest soccer player in history?" "CR7" pointed to himself.
I am the best player in history, no debate. If I finish with 920 or 925 goals, it doesn’t matter. I am the best player in history. Full stop. If I reach 1,000 goals, great. If not, that’s fine too. Numbers don’t lie. I am the most complete player ever. To say Cristiano isn’t complete is a lie. You may prefer Pele, Messi, or Maradona, and I respect that. But I believe I am the best. I’m fast, I’m strong, I score with my head, my left foot, my right foot. No one has ever been more complete than me," he said.
Cristiano Ronaldo pointed out the greatest soccer player of all time
The rivalry between Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi has captivated soccer fans for years, especially when both represented clubs that have been at odds for ages: Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
Many people portrayed them as enemies, but aside from the sports rivalry, nothing outside the game ever divided them. The legend of the Portuguese national team shared an interesting anecdote.
We share the stage for 15 years, me and him. I don’t know if that’s ever happened in football; the same two guys on the same stage all the time. It’s not easy, as you know. And, of course, we have a good relationship. We’ve not had a dinner together yet, but I hope in the future [we will]. We’ve had that battle for the last 15 years, which is good – he pushed me and I pushed him as well. So, it’s good to be part of the history of football. I’m there and, of course, he is there as well," Cristiano Ronaldo said about Leo Messi.
On February 5, 2025, Cristiano Ronaldo will turn 40 years old. In the current season, he has already scored 23 goals in 25 matches for Al-Nassr, adding four assists to that tally.
