Israel and Lebanon are once again engulfed in conflict. Hezbollah, a Shiite organization from Lebanon, launched about 190 rockets towards Israel on Monday. The attack resulted in at least 12 people being injured, including those in Haifa. Israel responded with airstrikes on key Hezbollah targets in Beirut and southern Lebanon, according to the Israeli military.

About 190 rockets were launched by Hezbollah towards Israel on Monday. The shelling affected Haifa, among other places, and at least 12 people were injured.

On the same day, the Israeli armed forces reported conducting airstrikes on "terrorist targets belonging to Hezbollah's intelligence headquarters" in Beirut and other locations in southern Lebanon. According to CNN, half an hour after the order to evacuate certain areas in the suburbs of Beirut, explosions lit up the sky over the city.

Anniversary of the bloody Hamas attack

October 7 marked the first anniversary of one of the bloodiest attacks by Palestinian Hamas on Israel, during which 1,200 people were killed and another 250 were abducted as hostages.

This attack became a trigger for the escalation of Israeli military actions in the Gaza Strip, as well as in Lebanon, where Israel has been conducting a ground operation against Hezbollah terrorists for a week.

Casualties of the conflict

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that since the beginning of Israeli airstrikes, about 2,000 people have already been killed, most of them in the past few weeks. Additionally, the number of victims continues to rise.

Meanwhile, since October 7, 2023, there have been significant losses on the Israeli side in clashes in Israel, the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and the West Bank. "728 Israeli soldiers have been killed," the Israeli army reported on Monday. In response to the actions of Hamas and Hezbollah fighters, Israeli forces have killed about 19,000 members of these organizations.

The conflict between Israel and the Iranian-backed Hezbollah has been ongoing for decades. Since the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip a year ago, the intensification of military actions has resulted in additional casualties and destruction. Hezbollah regularly shells northern Israel, prompting swift Israeli counterattacks from the air and on the ground.
