  • One person died, and three were injured after a makeshift viewing terrace collapsed in the Catalonian municipality of Vall de Boi, in the northeastern part of Spain. The condition of two of the injured is critical. According to Catalonian police, the tragic incident occurred due to the collapse of the makeshift structure of the viewing terrace. The site was under construction. Regional services reported that after the structure collapsed, four people fell from a height of 50 metres onto a rocky slope. A helicopter operation was necessary to retrieve the body of the victim and the three injured. All were construction workers.
  • 76-year-old Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, leader of the Mexican Sinaloa drug cartel, and Joaquin Guzman Lopez, son of the cartel's second founder currently serving a prison sentence in the U.S., Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, were arrested in Texas - announced the U.S. Department of Justice.
  • Wildfires threaten Canada's largest national park, Jasper National Park, in the Rocky Mountains. A fire destroyed half of the town there. In Alberta, Canada, firefighters are battling 176 wildfires, and the fire is spreading rapidly.
  • U.S. Vice-President Kamala Harris announced she is ready for a televised debate with Donald Trump. She criticized him for attempting to back out of previous agreements to conduct such a debate on ABC News at 8:00 PM ET on September 10.
