Clean your washing machine filter to banish foul odours
Regular cleaning of your washing machine is crucial for its maintenance and for achieving effective laundry results. If your washing machine isn't performing as well as it used to and your clothes have an unpleasant odour, it's a sign that you need to address one specific issue.

Unfortunately, many people who frequently use a washing machine forget to clean it. This oversight can lead to damage, necessitating the purchase of new equipment, and lacklustre laundry performance.
Clean this part of the washing machine
If stains aren't being removed from your clothes after washing and they have an unpleasant odour, it's time to clean the washing machine filter. The area where all "residue," like hair and small debris, collects should be cleaned regularly. Only then will your laundry be fresh and fragrant.
How do you clean the filter? It's a very simple process. First, place a few old clothes or towels under the opening of the washing machine filter. Then, slowly unscrew the filter so the water escapes in a thin stream. Remove the filter only when the water stops flowing. Finally, clean the opening and the filter, eliminating any "residue."
Cleaning the drum, seals, and detergent drawer
Washing machine owners should also remember to clean other areas of the machine, such as the drum, seals, and detergent drawer.
Vinegar and baking soda can be used to clean the drum. To remove dirt, pour 125 millilitres (half a cup) of baking soda directly into the washing machine drum. Pour 250 millilitres (one cup) of vinegar into the detergent or liquid compartment. Then, run the washing machine in the hottest setting. This combination will help remove mineral deposits, mould, and bacteria and neutralize unpleasant odours.
Door seals should be regularly wiped with a mixture of water and vinegar or a mild detergent. To do this, dip a cloth into a solution of water and vinegar (1:1) and thoroughly clean all the nooks and crannies of the seal. A soft toothbrush can be helpful for stubborn stains in the seals.
The detergent drawers can be removed and washed with water, baking soda, or dish soap. Mould can be scrubbed off with an old toothbrush.
