Choosing the right seat can ease airplane turbulence effects

Turbulence can make many passengers feel nauseated. However, there are ways to minimize its effects. Omio experts have revealed which seats in an aircraft can help avoid discomfort and nausea.

Many people experience nausea during a flight caused by motion sickness, which results from mixed signals sent by the senses of sight and balance to the brain.

In these parts of the plane, turbulence will be less felt

To counteract the effects of turbulence, such as nausea, it's worth choosing seats by the plane's wings. According to the portal Express, this is the most stable part of the aircraft, being the centre of gravity, which minimizes turbulence.

Alternatively, the front of the plane also experiences less shaking. If you can’t reserve these seats, try sitting by the window. The shaking is most felt at the back of the plane, so people with motion sickness should avoid it.

Focusing your gaze on the horizon helps synchronize the senses and reduce nausea. This method works not only on planes; it also brings relief during long car journeys or sea voyages.

Additional ways to combat motion sickness

Additionally, it's worth having ginger at hand. Chewing ginger or consuming ginger-based products can ease the symptoms of motion sickness. Experts also recommend avoiding focusing on electronic devices such as phones or tablets. Instead, close your eyes and breathe deeply.

Before travelling, avoid heavy meals and alcohol. Remember to stay hydrated by drinking small amounts of water regularly.
