The Chinese navy, known as the People's Liberation Army Navy, has commissioned a new Type 054B Luohe frigate. The ceremony took place in Qingdao, where China's Northern Fleet is stationed. According to CNN, the new vessel is set to enhance the combat capabilities of the Chinese fleet, which is already the largest in the world by the number of ships.

The Luohe frigate, with a displacement of approximately 5,500 tonnes, is equipped with stealth technology, combat command systems, and integrated armaments. Its weapons include, among others, machine guns for close-range combat and anti-aircraft and anti-ship missiles. The Chinese navy emphasizes that the new frigate will significantly improve the combat efficiency of its forces.

China's growing military power

China, which has approximately 234 warships, including 50 frigates, is striving to increase its presence at sea, including in the South China Sea, notes CNN. In addition to frigates in the Chinese fleet, there are also 50 destroyers, two operational aircraft carriers, with another undergoing sea trials, and a powerful and substantial coast guard.

The increased activity of the Chinese fleet is seen as a challenge to the USA, which has 219 ships. Despite potentially losing more units in war simulations, China is able to continue fighting, highlighting its growing military power.
