Carrie Underwood faces backlash for performing at Trump inauguration

On January 20, Donald Trump will officially report to the White House. On this occasion, the President of the USA is organizing a grand celebration, where — apart from heads of state from around the world — stars will also perform. They have faced a wave of criticism.

During the election campaign before the 2024 presidential elections, it was not Donald Trump, but his opponent Kamala Harris who managed to gain the support of famous artists. She was supported by, among others, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.

It is not surprising, then, that they will not be present at the politician's inauguration. However, that does not mean there are no willing performers for the official ceremonies. The 78-year-old's team invited Carrie Underwood to collaborate.

She will sing "America the Beautiful" with the United States Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Choir. According to Donald Trump's political opponents, the star made a mistake by deciding to perform. Some are calling for a boycott.

I hope Carrie Underwood is being paid well for her gig at Trump’s Inauguration, because I believe it’ll be one of the last meaningful (I use that word loosely here) gigs she gets — commented Cory A. Legendre online.

The winner of "Idol" does not hide that, despite the criticism, the event is important to her. On that day, she wants everyone to come together for the good of the American nation and for mutual grievances to take a back seat.

I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future — she declared on social media.

Who will perform at Donald Trump's inauguration?

Besides Carrie Underwood, the event will also feature operatic tenor Christopher Macchio, Lee Greenwood, Billy Ray Cyrus (father of Miley Cyrus), country singer Jason Aldean, Kid Rock, Rascal Flatts, Gavin DeGraw, and the group Village People.

Additionally, according to those associated with Donald Trump's team, a special guest is expected. However, it is not known who it will be.
