According to information provided by the independent portal Zerkalo.io, which cites the Belarusian State Border Committee, the Belarusian border guard allegedly shot down a reconnaissance drone on the border with Ukraine. At the same time, they reportedly discovered a bunker near the border. The Committee announced that it plans to "further strengthen" the border with Ukraine.

Many reports from Russian media or government officials are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.

The Belarusian Border Guard, also known as the State Border Committee (GPK), reported on Friday that it has information about the alleged presence of the so-called Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK) on the Ukrainian border. According to this information, the RDK is "in the area of responsibility of the Zhytomyr Border Detachment."

In the GPK communiqué, it was stated that "active reconnaissance activity" had been noted on this particular section of the border. "Along the border, reconnaissance flights of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles are regularly observed," the communiqué reads. It was also added that attempts by such vehicles to enter Belarusian airspace are thwarted using weapons and electronic warfare.

Reconnaissance drone shot down

On June 26, in the Gomel region, a border guard unit allegedly shot down a reconnaissance drone. "The uncrewed aerial vehicle was brought down 150 meters from the state border. The memory card contained video files that confirmed the drone was observing industrial facilities in the border area and border infrastructure," the communiqué stated.

In the same area, the border guard reported finding a "bunker containing elements to make explosive materials."

The GPK communiqué stated that the border guard is undertaking a series of actions in cooperation with the defence ministry aimed at "additional strengthening of the border, increasing control over airspace, and adherence to regulations in the border area."
