When we return from vacation, we bring back many souvenirs, including a beautiful tan that we proudly show off. Before you decide to sunbathe, ensure you're not only using the right sunscreen but also consuming products that won't cause photosensitivity. The list is longer than you might think.
How to recognize photosensitivity?
Photosensitivity, also known as photoallergy, can be recognized by skin changes that appear after prolonged exposure to the sun. This is related to UVA radiation, which in combination with medications, cosmetics, or food products, can cause an allergic reaction.
These reactions can manifest as redness, blisters, burning, itching, and even more blisters, so it's worth minimizing the risk. After all, they not only look unappealing but also affect our quality of life.
Do not eat these products before tanning
Before we start tanning, we need to remember some basic rules that can protect us from photosensitivity. First and foremost, don't leave the house without applying sunscreen, which will protect your skin from the sun. Sunglasses and a hat are also extremely important. However, this may sometimes not be enough.
Few people know that paying attention to the products you eat just before tanning is essential. We should be particularly careful with carrots, celery, lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruits, and mandarins. Consuming these before sun exposure can result in photosensitivity.
