Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt finalize divorce, vineyard dispute lingers
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been appearing in court since 2016, where they divided assets and fought over their children, meanwhile revealing the behind-the-scenes details of their seemingly perfect marriage. According to American tabloids, they have finally managed to reach an agreement. However, there's one caveat.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were once considered one of the most harmonious Hollywood couples. In 2016, two years after their wedding and nearly a decade after beginning their relationship, a divorce petition was filed in a Los Angeles court by the actress, citing "irreconcilable differences." Since then, more details have progressively come to light showing the relationship was not as perfect as it seemed. Documents from Jolie's lawsuit allege that Pitt had abused the family.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will finally divorce
Although over the years the estranged spouses managed to agree on issues such as custody of their children, many issues still prevented them from officially ending the marriage. However, it turns out that after eight years of intense court battles, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have finally reached a divorce settlement. "Daily Mail" reports that the actors officially signed divorce papers on Monday, December 30. It should be noted, however, that the dispute over the Chateau Miraval vineyard in France is still ongoing. Both parties have reportedly stated that they are prepared to take the matter to a jury trial or mediation.
Angelina Jolie's representative comments on the divorce settlement
Angelina's solicitor, James Simon, told the "Daily Mail" that his client is "relieved this one part is over" in light of recent revelations.
Frankly, Angelina is exhausted - he added, continuing:
More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family.
Source on Angelina Jolie
A person close to the star reveals that Jolie has "been trying hard to be light after a dark time."
The source insists that the actress never cared for publicly airing dirty laundry.
She does not speak badly about him publicly or privately - claims the source, adding that it was the ex-partners' children who wanted Angelina to fight for herself:
The kids have grown up seeing that some people have so much power and privilege that their voices don't matter. Their pain doesn't count. They have wanted her to speak up for herself, to defend herself over these years but she reminds them to focus on changing laws over telling public stories.
"Page Six" reports that Brad's representative declined to comment on the matter.
