A 50-year-old American wants to resemble a lizard. The Lizardman, as he calls himself, appeared as a guest on a British morning show. He triggered an emotional reaction from the host.

There are as many ideas for life as there are people in the world. While some decide to pursue careers as lawyers, doctors, or scientists, others take less obvious paths. USA-born Erik Sprague decided to resemble a lizard.

His body is covered in green tattoos resembling scales, and the tip of his tongue is split in half. Erik also has his teeth filed down to look like sharp fangs. The man has horn implants above his eyes. This, in short, describes the Lizardman.

Who is the Lizardman?

In his latest interview, which he gave on the British program "This Morning" at the end of June, Erik spoke about the beginnings of his transformation. The 50-year-old went to a surgeon in the 1990s to have his tongue laser-split. The pain was so immense that the American experienced hallucinations.

Interestingly, Erik designed the shape of the tongue himself. He presented the idea to the surgeon, who treated the procedure as an experiment on a "guinea pig." The service cost approximately $800 CAD, which was only the cost of renting the operating room.

- Oh my God. I'll be honest, I was breathless when I looked at you. You look incredible! - complimented Alison Hammond, one of the hosts of the show with the unusual guest.

The Lizardman on his transformation

The obsession with transforming into the Lizardman began after watching the film "Godzilla." Erik noticed that reptiles appear in cultures worldwide, which is why he feels such great fascination towards them.

The Lizardman is married. The host asked the guest what his wife thinks about his split tongue.
