Black dots of varying sizes are present on the edges of practically every front windshield in cars, regardless of the car's brand, class, or purpose. Are you wondering why they are there?

These small dots play a key role. To understand this, it is worth looking at the process of installing a car’s windshield. Before placing the windshield in the car, its edges are coated with ceramic paint and heated. Thanks to this, the adhesive adheres better to the rough surface, increasing its effectiveness.

When heated, the paint reaches a much higher temperature than the glass. The dots are designed to reduce the temperature difference in a small windshield area, preventing it from being damaged. Hence, the graduated sizes of the dots.

Additionally, the black border of the windshield, also known as the "frit," masks the adhesive, protecting it from the harmful effects of UV rays and extending its lifespan.
