Using WhatsApp or another messenger with a large group of friends can quickly lead to a situation where the chat list contains many conversations we no longer follow closely. WhatsApp plans to introduce a new button to the app that will quickly mark all messages in such chats as read to organize the chat list on the home screen.
The new WhatsApp feature is already being tested among beta testers—as noted by WABetaInfo, it has appeared in the latest release of the messenger for Android, version 2.24.18.11. The specific date for introducing the new button to the stable version of WhatsApp is not yet known, but practice shows that from the start of beta testing, users typically have to wait for implementation for a few weeks and, at most, months.
The WhatsApp team is also working on other new features simultaneously. Developers are also preparing the option for automatically blocking messages from unknown senders. This is particularly important from a security standpoint—the option aims to prevent phishing attacks, which are increasingly used by scammers and often carried out using WhatsApp.
One of the more popular fraud methods is impersonating buyers. Scammers make fake purchase offers, claiming they have transferred the money. The seller then needs to click a link and fill out a form, which leads to data theft.
