On July 13, the world was shaken by news of an assassination attempt on Donald Trump. The former US president was shot at by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was killed shortly after the effort.
The newly released video shows the assailant moving freely on the roof of a building just before the shooting occurred.
The man is seen moving across the opposite roof where Trump delivers his speech. After running across the roof, the figure in the footage appears to crouch and take a shooting position.
At the same time, Donald Trump is speaking at a rally, unaware of the impending danger. The clip ends just before the shooting begins. Around three minutes later, at approximately 6:11 PM, Thomas Crooks fired an AR-15 rifle. He shot Donald Trump in the ear, and the bullets struck three men in the audience. Shortly thereafter, snipers shot and killed Crooks.
The video footage comes from the phone of James Copenhaver, one of the three men wounded in the attack. The 74-year-old was shot in the arm and abdomen. The second person shot, David Dutch, aged 57, was hit twice. Both men are slowly recovering.
The third person shot was Corey Comperatore. The 50-year-old died from his head injuries.
