Axios reported on Sunday, citing three US and Israeli officials, that in their assessment, an attack by Iran on Israel could take place as early as Monday. Earlier, Sky News Arabia, citing Western intelligence sources, reported that an attack might be possible on August 12-13.
According to Blinken, as reported by Axios citing three sources, the attack could happen as early as Monday or Tuesday. Blinken spoke with G7 ministers about diplomatic efforts to prevent an escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.
It should be noted that before Russia invaded Ukraine, the United States had secret intelligence indicating that such an attack was being planned, which was later confirmed.
Coordinated attack?
The US and Israeli officials, whose names Axios did not disclose, do not know whether Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah will carry out a potential coordinated attack or if they will act separately. According to their assessments, military plans are being finalized and approved at the political level.
The situation in the Middle East is the most tense it has been in months and threatens further escalation of the ongoing multi-front conflict between Israel and Tehran and Iran's allies: Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Yemeni Houthi movement.
