A Ukrainian Neptune cruise missile hit a Russian ammunition depot in Ostrogozhsk, Voronezh Oblast. An explosion and a fire ensued, leading to the evacuation of 200 people.

During the night from Friday to Saturday (August 23 to 24), Ukrainian forces successfully attacked Russia. Local media reported that a Ukrainian Neptune cruise missile hit a Russian ammunition depot in Ostrogozhsk, Voronezh Oblast, resulting in an explosion and a fire nearby.

Before 8:00 PM Eastern Time, Alexander Gusev, the governor of Voronezh Oblast, informed on Telegram that air defense forces destroyed several "kamikaze drones." However, falling fragments from the downed machines caused a fire, which led to the detonation in the ammunition depot. The authorities declared a state of emergency and ordered an evacuation.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, seven drones were shot down over Voronezh, Belgorod, and Bryansk, reports Nexta.

Reports of the Ukrainian attack were also confirmed by Anton Herashchenko, advisor to the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, who published photos and videos of the explosion on social media. "200 people were evacuated" - he reported, according to local media.
