What is Putin promising?
Acting governor of the Kursk region, Alexei Smirnov, informed that he held a virtual meeting with Vladimir Putin, during which he presented the situation in the region. According to Smirnov, several doctors died during the evacuation. Putin promised 10,000 rubles to every evacuee from the endangered areas.
During the meeting with Putin, Smirnov said he spoke with Igor Sechin, the CEO of the state-owned petrochemical company Rosneft, about securing gas stations. He also mentioned that he had prohibited local authorities from raising prices in the region's interior, where residents of the border towns were fleeing.
Vladimir Putin, according to "Ukrainska Pravda," reportedly told Smirnov: "Life presents you with extremely difficult tasks. Only your professional knowledge, skills, and experience, which you undoubtedly possess, will not be enough. In today's situation, this requires a certain amount of courage and composure from you."
According to Ukrainian sources, since the beginning of the fighting on Russian territory, the Ukrainian army has captured about 300 Russian soldiers. The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation has not confirmed these reports.
