"In certain sectors of Lyukianka and Wowchansk, due to the enemy's bombardment and assault tactics, to protect our soldiers and minimize casualties, our units have executed a tactical redeployment to more advantageous positions," the official statement from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine explains.

"The battle rages on. Ukrainian forces are preventing Russian invaders from securing positions. Counteroffensives are underway, with the enemy consistently under the scrutiny of our artillery units and defence forces," it further stated.

The report also highlights successful counterattacks, noting, "In the ongoing operations, the enemy has lost today 162 soldiers, with 26 pieces of weapons and military hardware either destroyed or incapacitated."

Ukraine anticipates assault in the Sumy region

Before this update, General Kyrylo Budanov, the chief of Ukrainian military intelligence HUR, shared insights on the frontline situation.

According to him, Ukrainian forces appear to be nearing a stabilization of the situation following Russia's ground offensive in the Kharkiv region. Nevertheless, General Budanov cautioned that the Russian troops were amassing near the Sumy region in the north, signalling the possibility of an imminent military operation.
