Ukrainian drones strike major oil terminal in Crimea
On the night from Sunday to Monday, Ukrainian drones attacked a transshipment terminal in Feodosia, located in occupied Crimea. Powerful explosions were reported. It is the second-largest terminal on the peninsula. Thousands of Russians witnessed columns of black smoke rising over the city in the morning.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine claimed responsibility for the attack in the morning.
Attack on occupied Crimea
"Tonight, there was a successful attack on the enemy's oil terminal located in temporarily occupied Feodosia of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. A fire was reported at the site," reads the statement.
The Staff adds that this is the largest terminal for oil product transshipment in Crimea, which served the needs of the Russian Federation's occupying army.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that 12 drones were shot down over Crimea.
State of emergency after terminal attack
The authorities declared a local state of emergency due to the fire. Streets and roads near the terminal are closed.
The operational command of the occupied peninsula reports that no one was killed in the attack. The powerful explosions shook Feodosia at about 9:25 PM Eastern Time.
"Smoke above the burning oil depot is rising in three columns, which may indicate three main sources of ignition," writes the channel "Crimean Wind."
The terminal attacked is located on the eastern edge of Feodosia. Ukrainian drones attacked it in March 2024, damaging the main pipeline for pumping fuel. The same terminal was also attacked in December and November of last year.
