The independent portal Meduza, citing regional authorities, reports that a local "state of emergency" has been declared in the Tikhoretsk district of the Krasnodar region. This move follows the Ukrainian attack on an ammunition depot near Tikhoretsk.

The governor of the Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratyev, announced the state of emergency locally. The official stated that residents were not in danger, and the decision was made to swiftly address "all issues related to the incident."

As conveyed, 1,200 residents were evacuated from the Tikhoretsk district in the morning. According to another local official, Sergey Shtrikov, they can return home in two days once the area has been secured, reported Meduza.

Ukraine confirms attack

Earlier, the Ukrainian General Staff reported on successful attacks on two Russian ammunition arsenals - in the Tikhoretsk district and the Tver region.

Near Tikhoretsk, located in southern Russia about 93 miles from Krasnodar, one of the three largest Russian arsenals was reportedly hit. According to the Ukrainian side, at the time of the attack, there was a rail shipment that brought at least 2,000 tonnes of ammunition, including some from North Korea. The attack resulted in a fire, followed by the detonation of shells. A radar station was also attacked.

According to the Ukrainian General Staff, the second target of the successful attack was the 23rd ammunition arsenal of the Main Artillery Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, located near the village of Oktyabrsky in the Tver region.

Earlier, Governor Kondratyev reported on the Ukrainian attack that occurred at night. He stated that "two drones were destroyed by air defence and electronic warfare forces," and the cause of the fire (which then spread to explosive devices, causing detonations) was "drone debris."
