Ukrainian brigade's humane treatment contrasts Russian brutality

- Brother, I'll help you. You just have to get there - says a Ukrainian soldier to a wounded Russian. Fighters of the "Rubizh" brigade have released a segment of a recording showing Russian soldiers laying down their arms and surrendering to the Ukrainians.

"There is an impenetrable civilizational chasm between us and the Russian Federation. Just yesterday, a horrifying picture of a tortured Ukrainian defender in Russian captivity spread across the entire country. Today, we are showing how real soldiers, who have honour and dignity, treat enemy prisoners," reads the statement from the Ukrainian soldiers.

The military refer to the picture of Oleksandr Hrytiuk from Kivertsi in Volyn, who the Russians captured in April 2022. In January 2024, his family was informed that his body had returned from captivity. "His head was all blue, his nose to the side, the index fingers had no nails. The whole body bore signs of torture," says Hrytiuk's wife. The soldier "did not want to speak Russian."

Russians "chose life"

Dozens of occupiers were taken captive. "Most of them were mobilized and sentenced to death in 'meat attacks.' They chose life," add the defenders. They emphasized that the prisoners are treated well and by international law.

"Our fighters provided them with the necessary qualified medical assistance and behaved as humanely as possible, given the combat conditions. Atrocities, murders of civilians, torture, and mistreatment of the e unarmed are the path of dark Russia. On the front, we make every effort to destroy even the traces of the Russian Federation in our free, civilized country," assured the fighters of the Ukrainian "Rubizh" brigade.
