Trump taps Hollywood icons for "special ambassador" roles

On January 20, the inauguration of the new President of the United States will take place; however, Donald Trump has already begun tidying up the country, which will also target Hollywood, a longtime supporter of the Democrats. To achieve this, he appointed "special ambassadors"—Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson, and Jon Voight.

Before the elections, there weren't many supporters of Donald Trump in Hollywood. The most loyal advocate of the Republican candidate was Oscar-winner and Angelina Jolie's father, Jon Voight, who has been actively supporting Trump for ten years. Other supporters of the 45th and 47th President of the USA include Hulk Hogan, Dennis Quaid, James Woods, Jim Caviezel—known for his role as Jesus in "The Passion"—and its director Mel Gibson, as well as Sylvester Stallone, who didn't actively support his candidate. His sympathy for Trump resurfaced after the elections, when he took the podium during the America First Policy Conference.

As it turns out, Donald Trump knows how to return the favour. Just a few days before the inauguration, information was announced on social media that the new president created a special unit aimed at restoring Hollywood to its former glory and removing it from the influence of foreign interests.

"It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone, to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California. They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE! These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest. It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!" – Donald Trump explains his decision.

Critics of this idea, and there will likely be many not only in Hollywood, point out that Donald Trump’s "guard" is already of quite an age (Jon Voight recently turned 86, Sylvester Stallone is 78, and Mel Gibson is 69) and does not possess the competencies to carry out "reforms".

Interestingly, the appointed "ambassadors" themselves likely didn't know about Trump's idea. "I got the tweet at the same time as all of you and was just as surprised. Nevertheless, I heed the call. My duty as a citizen is to give any help and insight I can" – said Gibson in a statement to Variety.
