On Friday evening in Magdeburg, Germany, a driver drove a car into a crowd of people at a Christmas market.

The video of the suspect's arrest quickly spread on social media. It shows a man lying on the sidewalk next to a black car, surrounded by several police officers. The officers are instructing witnesses to stay back from the scene.

The arrest of the suspect took place just after the attack. German media report that the driver drove through the market for about 400 metres. The centre of Magdeburg was cordoned off, and emergency services continue their operations at the scene of the tragedy.

Emergency services quickly arrived, providing assistance to the injured and securing the area. The driver was arrested by the police near the Allee-Center tram stop.

Let's recall - at 1:00 PM Eastern Time, at the Christmas market in the capital of Saxony-Anhalt, a driver of a dark BMW drove into a crowd moving towards the town hall at the holiday market. Government spokesperson Matthias Schuppe confirmed that it was a terrorist attack. The state authorities, after 4:00 PM Eastern Time, reported two casualties.
