The 66-year-old paraglider ultimately ended up hanging in a tree in the field, about 50 metres below the starting point. The police rule out that the incident was a usual aviation accident. "It clearly was not an accident or anything similar, but a health issue with the man is suspected, which tragically led to his death during the flight," explained a police spokeswoman.
According to the "Bild" newspaper, the drama unfolded before the eyes of a family member of the pilot, who immediately called the emergency services. Mountain rescue services, the fire department, and the police arrived at the scene, but the man could not be saved. Rescuers could only pronounce him dead and extract the body from the site.
Paragliding is an exciting sport, allowing one to fly in open space using the power of the wind and thermals. Nevertheless, it carries certain risks, including unpredictable weather changes, equipment problems, or pilot errors. It's important for paragliders to be properly trained and for their equipment to be regularly checked.
