Tragedy in the hunt: Bigfoot seekers perish in harsh conditions
A tragic end to a journey in the USA, which was supposed to solve a centuries-old mystery. Two men searched for a mythical monster, but neither returned home. The 37-year-old and the 59-year-old were found dead after a three-day search.
This was intended to be their great discovery for the residents of Portland. The two men travelled to Skamania County in the state of Washington, in the western United States, searching for the mythical monster. They aimed to find Bigfoot and set out from home on Christmas Eve 2024. They chose mountainous areas, including Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams, with peaks measuring over 4,000 metres above sea level. On Christmas Day, authorities received information from concerned families that the 37-year-old and 59-year-old had not returned home.

Two Bigfoot searchers dead. Causes of death
The mythical monster they so wished to find did not kill the searchers. Their deaths were attributed to poor weather conditions. Local police determined that they were inadequately prepared for the expedition they undertook. The Skamania County Sheriff’s office reported that the group searching for the missing had to contend with snow, rain, frost, and rushing streams. The police also offered condolences to the families of the deceased searchers.
Bigfoot - what is this creature?
Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is a mythical creature that, according to legend, lives in the USA in the Rocky Mountains and neighbouring regions. The creature's name comes from the gigantic footprints it allegedly leaves behind. There are many unverified theories about its origin, and there is no evidence that such a creature actually exists. The first reported monster footprints were observed in the snow in 1811.
