The 22-year-old, with serious injuries, was transported to the University Hospital of Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Tenerife's capital, Santa Cruz. He is currently in the intensive care unit.
We received a call to the emergency number 999 just before 2:30 AM (Eastern Time), requesting help for an injured man who was found on Avenida Antonio Dominguez Alfonso in the Arona municipality, said the spokesman for the Crisis Response Coordination Center.
According to "The Sun," the attacked man is from the UK and was on holiday on the island. This information has not yet been officially confirmed. Local police have launched an investigation into the attack.
As of yesterday afternoon, it was reported that it was unknown if any arrests had been made in connection with this case. Still, the latest reports indicate that the police arrested a Spanish citizen. The authorities only stated that "the incident is still under investigation".
